Lighted Christmas Tree Panel
Materials Needed:
- Batting - approximately 30" x 50"
- Backing fabric - approximately 1 yard
- this includes material needed for the hanging sleeve and pocket. If you want a different material, you will need about 6" x WOF
- Binding fabric - 1/3 yards
- Matching thread
- Rotary cutter, scissors, pins, binding clips, etc.
- Stiletto or awl
- Small sharp snips/scissors
- Sewing Machine and accessories
- Marking pens/chalk
- Hand sewing needles, thread, thimble
Materials INCLUCED with the class:
- Your choice of a Christmas panel
- A string of 30 white Christmas lights
- 100 nylon grommets/washers
- 3 AA batteries
Prior to class:
- Quilt your Christmas panel as desired
- you will use a lot of time if you quilt during class time and may not have time to string your lights
- Cut 4 - 2 1/2" strips of your binding material and sew strips together
- Cut a strip of fabric 5" x 27" (for hanging sleeve)
- Cut a rectangle 6" x 12" (for pocket)
- DO NOT bind the quilt
- Familiarize yourself with your buttonhole maker on your machine. If you have a round buttonhole maker, you're going to want to utilize that feature! Practice making a buttonhole for a 2mm opening. This opening will be smaller than the diameter of a pencil.
