Kaleidoscope Quilt w/Hollow Blocks
Fabric and Misc. Requirements:
□ 3 fat quarters will make three Hollow Cubes (purchase after the Hexie parts are sewn to determine colors (will need light, intermediate, and dark)
□ 6 repeats of fabric for making the Hexagons, 1 extra repeat is usually sewn to the back of the quilt, so the original fabric can be shown
□ 50/2 weight neutral thread
□ Rotary cutter with a new blade, preferably 60mm
□ Rotary cutting mat (24″ x 36″)
□ Small iron
□ Small ironing board
□ Sewing machine, electrical cord, foot, and accessories
□ 1/4″ foot with guide
□ 60 degree Equilateral Triangle Ruler with all tips (required)
□ 2-3 boxes of flat flower head pins or something comparable
□ Creative Grids 4″ x 14″ ruler or one that’s comparable
□ Recommended reading: One-Block Wonders Cubed! By Maxine Rosenthal & Joy Pelzmann, Chapter 1, 2, and 11

Skill Details: | Day 1 is pressing, stacking, aligning fabric, cutting strips, and cutting hexagons. May start to sew hexagons together, then finish up at homey Day 2 is assembling the items onto a design wall, determining color of Hollow Cubes and placement, and sewing the columns. Day 3 is finalizing the sewing and adding borders. |
